IV Encuentro doctoral transfronterizo UPPA-UNIZAR | Jaca, 25-27 octubre
El proyecto IV Encuentro Doctoral Transfronterizo” entre la Universidad de Pau y de los Países del Adour (UPPA) y la Universidad de Zaragoza (UZ) se celebró los días 25 a 27 de octubre de 2023 en la Universidad de Zaragoza, en las instalaciones de la Residencia Universitaria de Jaca (Huesca), y reunió a 37 doctorandos procedentes de: 19 de la Universidad de Zaragoza y 18 de la Universidad de Pau y Países del Adour, acompañados de autoridades académicas de ambas universidades. Este año, al haberse producido la incorporación de la Universidad Pública de Navarra a la alianza de universidades europeas UNITA, de la que forman parte tanto la UZ como la UPPA, y teniendo en cuenta su carácter también transfronterizo, se invitó al equipo de dirección de su escuela de doctorado, asistiendo la profesora secretaria al encuentro, Alicia Martínez.
En este proyecto han trabajado conjuntamente el Vicerrectorado de Internacionalización y Cooperación, el Vicerrectorado de Política Científica y la Escuela de Doctorado de la Universidad de Zaragoza.
El proyecto tiene el propósito de crear una sinergia entre doctorandos de las dos universidades, dinamizar y poner en valor los intercambios de formación doctoral entre las dos universidades y acompañar a los doctorandos en su preparación para su inserción profesional. Durante el encuentro se hace especial hincapié en dar a conocer las oportunidades de colaboración transfronterizas, las oportunidades de movilidad y formación que ofrecen, ambas instituciones y la red de universidades europeas UNITA y sus acciones en el marco del doctorado, Así mismo, mediante la difusión de los trabajos de investigación de los participantes se dan a conocer los ámbitos de investigación de ambas universidades y se fomentan las colaboraciones.
Respecto a los participantes, la Escuela de Doctorado hace especial hincapié en la participación de aquellos doctorandos y doctorandas que llevan a cabo tesis en cotutela con la UPPA, pero está abierto a todos los estudiantes de doctorado. Para favorecer la participación de aquellos estudiantes de la UZ y la UPPA que no conocen el francés, el español o ninguno de los dos (hay un porcentaje de ellos procedentes de terceros países), las charlas se llevaron a cabo en inglés. mbién se trabajó en iniciar una red doctoral transfronteriza aprovechando la experiencia de la asociación Eurodoc.
El encuentro consistió en varias sesiones de formación y en momentos de encuentro para favorecer la interacción entre las personas participantes.
Las charlas trataron sobre: Competencias transfronterizas, Ciencia para y por la Sociedad y Ciencia Abierta. Se complementó con un taller sobre Intercomprensión y una mesa redonda sobre las tesis en cotutela, en la que participaron directores de tesis y doctorandos de ambas instituciones. Además, hubo sesiones interdisciplinares donde los participantes tuvieron la oportunidad de presentar y discutir con colegas sus proyectos de tesis. También se llevó a cabo una sesión de presentación de los pósteres realizados por los doctorandos y doctorandas. Tras la sesión se llevó a cabo una votación para elegir el mejor poster presentado.
Las visitas culturales fueron a la Ciudadela de Jaca, a la Catedral y Museo Románico y a la pista de hielo (opcional).
El viernes por la mañana se dedicó a conocer el Laboratorio Subterráneo del Canfranc, una infraestructura científica singular de primer orden, situado en la frontera entre ambos países, y un ejemplo de colaboración internacional. Primero hubo una charla sobre los proyectos de investigación en marcha y después una visita a las instalaciones.
Finalizado el encuentro se envió una encuesta de evaluación a los asistentes siendo los resultados de satisfacción muy positivos y que permite tomar nota de puntos de mejora para el futuro.

IV UPPA-UNIZAR cross-border doctoral meeting Jaca, 25-27 October
The "IV Cross-border Doctoral Meeting" project between the University of Pau and the Pays de l'Adour (UPPA) and the University of Zaragoza (UZ) was held from 25 to 27 October 2023 at the University of Zaragoza, in the facilities of the University Residence of Jaca (Huesca), and brought together 37 doctoral students from: 19 from the University of Zaragoza and 18 from the University of Pau and the Pays de l'Adour, accompanied by academic authorities from both universities. The project aims to create a synergy between doctoral students from the two universities, to stimulate and enhance the value of doctoral training exchanges between the two universities and to accompany the doctoral students in their preparation for their professional insertion. During the meeting, special emphasis is placed on raising awareness of the opportunities for cross-border collaboration, mobility and training opportunities offered by both institutions and the European university network UNITA and its actions within the framework of the doctorate. Likewise, through the dissemination of the research work of the participants, the research areas of both universities are made known and collaborations are encouraged.
With regard to the participants, the Doctoral School places special emphasis on the participation of those doctoral students who carry out joint theses with the UPPA, but it is open to all doctoral students. In order to encourage the participation of those UZ and UPPA students who do not know French, Spanish or neither (there is a percentage of them coming from third countries), the lectures were held in English.
The meeting consisted of a number of training sessions and meeting moments to encourage interaction between the participants.
The talks dealt with: Cross-border competences, Science for and by Society and Open Science. They were complemented by a workshop on Intercomprehension and a round table on joint theses, in which thesis supervisors and doctoral students from both institutions took part. In addition, there were interdisciplinary sessions where participants had the opportunity to present and discuss their thesis projects with colleagues. There was also a presentation session of the posters produced by the doctoral students. The session was followed by a vote for the best poster presented.
The cultural visits were to the Citadel of Jaca, the Cathedral and the Romanesque Museum and the ice rink (optional).
Friday morning was devoted to the Canfranc Underground Laboratory, a unique scientific infrastructure of the first order, located on the border between the two countries, and an example of international collaboration. First there was a talk on the research projects underway and then a visit to the facilities.
At the end of the meeting, an evaluation survey was sent to the attendees, the results of which were very positive, allowing us to take note of points of improvement for the future.
