Éxito de asistencia a la Jornada de Bienvenida de la EDUZ. Curso 2023-24.

El pasado día 4 de octubre, se congregaron más de 100 personas, en la que fue una tarde repleta de información de interés y utilidad dirigida principalmente a las personas que comienzan ahora sus estudios de doctorado. Tras la inauguración y palabras de bienvenida en nombre del Rector, de José Ángel Castellanos (Vicerrector de Política académica); Carmina Puyod (Coordinadora de la Unidad de Cultura Científica – UZ) puso de relieve la importancia de comunicar y divulgar lo que se investiga, desde los inicios de la carrera científica. El Equipo de Dirección de la EDUZ, hizo un breve recorrido sobre algunas reflexiones y aspectos de tipo práctico de los estudios de doctorado, haciendo mención entre otros, de los 10 Principios inspiradores de Salzburgo, retos y claves que se plantean, el Código de buenas prácticas para la Escuela y sus programas de doctorado y los servicios disponibles en la UZ (BUZ, OPRA, OUAD, Defensoría, etc.).

En el segundo bloque, David, doctorando del PD en Medicina y embajador de Iberus Connect, presentó el programa de mentoría y apoyo del Campus Iberus, dirigido especialmente a los doctorandos y doctorandas internacionales, pero igualmente, abierto a todos los interesados en compartir y aprender de iguales. A continuación, Eva Cerezo (Subdirectora de la EDUZ) y Rosa Gutiérrez (Catedrática de Derecho Procesal de la UZ), así como profesoras de actividades transversales de la EDUZ, presentaron la oferta de este curso. Para acabar, Sergio Salinas (Director de la Oficina UNITA) dio unas pinceladas de lo que significa este consorcio de universidades europeas al que pertenece la Universidad de Zaragoza y de las oportunidades que se presentan, en especial en el entorno del doctorado, dando paso al último ponente, Ignacio Garcés (Director de Secretariado de Proyectos Internacionales de Investigación) que se centró en el ambicioso proyecto de investigación re-UNITA con el que se financian numerosas e interesantes acciones y convocatorias de las que se pueden beneficiar los doctorandos y doctorandas.

Además, hubo tiempo para el humor de la mano de la que fuera doctoranda del PD en Ciencias Biomédicas y Biotecnológicas (EDUZ), Inés Mármol. Con su monólogo “El alcohol y el jet lag” de Risarchers (UCC, UZ), resaltó la importancia de no olvidarse del ocio ante la vorágine que suponen los años dedicados a realizar una tesis doctoral.

Agradecemos tanto a los asistentes, como a todos los que han intervenido, por su participación, esfuerzo y compromiso. No nos olvidamos de agradecer también el apoyo y trabajo de quienes, desde la discreción, nos acompañaron entre la audiencia: algunos coordinadores/as de Programas de doctorado y directores/as de tesis, así como personal de la Sección administrativa de la EDUZ, en esta ocasión representada por Eva Muñoz (Administradora), Belén San Miguel (Jefa del Negociado de Programas) y Santiago López de Soria (Secretario de Dirección). Todos ellos agentes fundamentales para el acompañamiento de los doctorandos y doctorandas que son los verdaderos protagonistas de esta historia. Así se refería a ellos Fernando Sanz, el Director de la EDUZ, que clausuró el acto deseándoles muchos éxitos y momentos felices durante sus estudios de doctorado que ahora comienzan.

Successful attendance at the EDUZ Welcome Day. Course 2023-24.

On 4 October, more than 100 people gathered in what was an afternoon full of interesting and useful information aimed mainly at people who are now beginning their doctoral studies. After the opening and welcoming remarks on behalf of the Rector, by José Ángel Castellanos (Vice-Rector for Academic Policy); Carmina Puyod (Coordinator of the Scientific Culture Unit - UZ) highlighted the importance of communicating and disseminating what is being researched, from the very beginning of a scientific career. The EDUZ Management Team gave a brief overview of some reflections and practical aspects of doctoral studies, mentioning, among others, the 10 Salzburg Principles, challenges and key issues, the Code of Good Practice for the School and its doctoral programmes and the services available at the UZ (BUZ, OPRA, OUAD, Ombudsman, etc.).

In the second block, David, PhD student of the PD in Medicine and ambassador of Iberus Connect, presented the mentoring and support programme of the Iberus Campus, aimed especially at international doctoral students, but also open to all those interested in sharing and learning from peers. Next, Eva Cerezo (Deputy Director of the EDUZ) and Rosa Gutiérrez (Professor of Procedural Law at the UZ), as well as professors of transversal activities of the EDUZ, presented the offer of this course. Finally, Sergio Salinas (Director of the UNITA Office) gave an overview of what this consortium of European universities to which the University of Zaragoza belongs means and the opportunities that are presented, especially in the doctoral environment, giving way to the last speaker, Ignacio Garcés (Director of the Secretariat of International Research Projects) who focused on the ambitious research project re-UNITA with which numerous and interesting actions and calls are financed and from which doctoral students can benefit.

There was also time for humour from the former PhD student of the PD in Biomedical and Biotechnological Sciences (EDUZ), Inés Mármol. With her monologue "El alcohol y el jet lag" by Risarchers (UCC, UZ), she highlighted the importance of not forgetting about leisure in the face of the whirlwind of the years dedicated to carrying out a doctoral thesis.

We would like to thank both the attendees and all those who took part for their participation, effort and commitment. We would also like to thank the support and work of those who, discreetly, accompanied us in the audience: some PhD programme coordinators and thesis supervisors, as well as staff from the administrative section of the EDUZ, on this occasion represented by Eva Muñoz (Administrator), Belén San Miguel (Head of the Programmes Department) and Santiago López de Soria (Secretary of the Directorate). All of them are key players in accompanying the doctoral students, who are the real protagonists of this story. This is how Fernando Sanz, the Director of the EDUZ, referred to them, who closed the event by wishing them many successes and happy moments during their doctoral studies, which are now beginning.
