El proyecto (https://www.csic.es/es/formacion-y-empleo/oportunidades-para-la-carrera-investigadora/pre2023-improving-structural) es en el campo de la conservación del patrimonio arquitectónico, enfocado en la generación de imágenes tomográficas para el diagnóstico estructural de elementos de albañilería. El objetivo principal es mejorar la interpretación de las imágenes tomográficas usando redes de aprendizaje profundo. Las actividades de investigación incluyen la simulación numérica y ensayos de campo y en laboratorio. El candidato se integrará en el grupo de caracterización de materiales mediante evaluación no destructiva (G-CARMA) del instituto de tecnologías físicas y de la información Leonardo Torres Quevedo (ITEFI). El programa de doctorado está alineado con el proyecto de investigación MeDeAH (https://www.itefi.csic.es/en/proyectos/application-mechatronics-and-deep-learning-tomographic-imaging-architectural-heritage), lo que permitirá al doctorando participar en tareas de investigación asociadas y en misiones de campo en el caso de estudio del proyecto, La Alhambra de Granada, y otros.

The project (https://www.csic.es/es/formacion-y-empleo/oportunidades-para-la-carrera-investigadora/pre2023-improving-structural) is in the field of architectural heritage conservation, focused on the generation of tomographic images for the structural diagnosis of masonry elements. The main objective is to improve the interpretation of tomographic images using deep learning networks. Research activities include numerical simulation and field and laboratory tests. The candidate will join the materials characterisation by non-destructive evaluation (G-CARMA) group at the Leonardo Torres Quevedo Institute of Information and Physical Technologies (ITEFI). The PhD programme is aligned with the MeDeAH research project (https://www.itefi.csic.es/en/proyectos/application-mechatronics-and-deep-learning-tomographic-imaging-architectural-heritage), which will allow the PhD student to participate in associated research tasks and field missions in the project's case study, the Alhambra of Granada, and others.
