Inauguration of the new headquarters of the Doctoral School
Last Friday, 21 February 2025, a small ceremony was held to inaugurate the new headquarters of the Doctoral School (EDUZ), located next to the sports facilities of the San Francisco Campus (access to the campus at the end of Menéndez Pelayo Street).
The Director, Fernando Sanz, and the Administrator, Eva Muñoz, cut the ribbon held by the Vice-Rectors of Academic Policy, José Ángel Castellanos, and of Planning, Sustainability and Infrastructure, Ángel Pueyo. We are grateful to both of them for having been able to meet a demand already made by previous management teams. The event was also attended by the Deputy Director and the Secretary of EDUZ, Eva Cerezo and María Eugenia Marqués, respectively, as well as the Director of the maintenance service, Salvador Nevot, who is still very attentive to all the issues that arise in this process of moving and installation that we have been experiencing since the beginning of this 2024-25 academic year.
Below we take a tour of each of the building's rooms, including the administrative section, with the information room where our colleagues Almudena Andrés (certificates and degrees), Susana Repullés (cross-disciplinary activities) and Emma de Martín-Barbadillo (thesis reports) are located; the thesis office room, where Juan Serrano (head of thesis office) and Mauricio Escuer are located; the academic office, where Iratxe Mendívil (head of the doctoral office) and Belén San Miguel (head of the programme office) are; the quality and international office, where Loreto Grande (quality technician), Ángela Bruno (international relations technician) and Pilar Mira are. We also visited the offices of Eva Muñoz (administrator), Manuela Harto (head of section), Santiago López de Soria (executive secretary) and Luis García (social media and communications intern), as well as those of the management team. The tour ended in the meeting room (which owes its name to the first woman to defend her doctoral thesis exclusively at the University of Zaragoza, María Antonia Zorraquino), where we all enjoyed a small banquet, courtesy of the director and the administrator of the EDUZ. Finally, it should be mentioned that there are plans to set up a classroom with a capacity for around 30 people, where cross-disciplinary activities will be held, as well as seminars, workshops, conferences and other events.
With these facilities, the Doctoral School is gaining visibility and its own identity, and is projected to grow as expected in the medium term with the addition of two more sub-directorates, approved by the current rectoral team.
