Academic Calendar for Doctorate Programs 2025-2026

The 2025-2026 academic year will begin on September 1, 2025 and end on August 31, 2026. The doctoral academic calendar for the 2025-2026 academic year was approved by agreement of the Standing Committee of the Doctoral School's Management Committee on June 9, 2025.

*Those who are still waiting to obtain the academic requirements necessary for admission to the doctoral program may submit their application within the admission period established in the academic calendar and be considered by the academic committees of the programs. In any case, admission to the programs cannot be granted without proof that the aforementioned admission requirements have been met before the date of publication of the final admission lists for the programs.

Enrollment deadlines

  • For continuation9: from September 1 to 12, 2025.

  • For new students: from September 29 to October 8, 2025.

Enrollment, second deadline for new students: December 1 to 5, 2025. 

Enrollment, third deadline for new students: February 26 to March 4, 2026. 

Self-enrollment through the virtual office: Students whose degree granting them access to the Doctorate program was obtained at universities other than the University of Zaragoza, once they have self-enrolled through the virtual secretary's office, they must send their doctoral entrance qualifications (legalized and authenticated by diplomatic means or certified, where applicable), preferably by post to the Doctoral School Section, C/ Pedro Cerbuna, 12, 50009-Zaragoza.

Students admitted during the extraordinary period: any working day, preferably within five working days from the date of admission. Enrollment must be done in person or by sending the registration form by post to the Doctoral School (c/Pedro Cerbuna, 12, Edificio Interfacultades, 50009, Zaragoza).

Annual evaluation of the Research Plan or Progress Report and the Doctoral Student Activity Document (DAD)

  • Deadline for submission of the research plan and activities document for annual evaluation by doctoral students: May 4 to 15, 2026. 

  • Deadline for submission of reports by the tutor and director: May 18 to 29, 2026.

  • Deadline for submission of assessment reports by coordinators: by July 6, 2026.

  • Deadlines for the second review in the event of a negative evaluation: a new research plan must be submitted within six months of the negative evaluation.

Defense of doctoral theses

During non-teaching days, no doctoral thesis readings or presentations may be held, nor may regular meetings of collegiate bodies, governing bodies, or university participation bodies be convened.

Saturdays and public holidays, as well as the periods established in the general calendar of the University of Zaragoza, are considered non-teaching days.

  • Christmas 2025: December 22, 2025, to January 6, 2026.

  • Easter 2026: March 30 to April 6, 2026.

  • Summer 2026: July 13 to August 31, 2026.

For the sole purpose of reading doctoral theses, the days July 13 to 24, 2026 will be considered school days, and doctoral theses may be defended in the morning or remotely.

Finally, in the event of any discrepancy between the academic calendar for the Doctorate program and the overall academic calendar of the University of Zaragoza, the latter shall prevail.

 

 1. Applicants with foreign degrees not recognized by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) must also apply for ACCESS (application period open permanently).

2. Applications may be submitted without meeting the necessary access and admission requirements, but these must be accredited during the correction period given after the publication of the provisional list.

3. To the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program, through the virtual secretary's office.

4. Open deadline for beneficiaries of pre-doctoral or equivalent contracts, joint supervision theses and industrial theses. 

5. The Permanent Commission of the EDUZ Steering Committee, at the request of the interested party and following a report from the Academic Commission of the Doctoral Program, may authorize applications for admission and enrollment outside the regular periods in very exceptional and well-justified circumstances.

6. To the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program, preferably via electronic registration.

7. To the Doctoral School, preferably via electronic registration.

8. Self-enrollment via the virtual office.

9. Doctoral students from previous years.

10. Only if there are vacancies in the corresponding doctoral program. 

 

General academic calendar of the University of Zaragoza
