Quick Guide to Applying for the Official Degree
Collection
Once the Doctoral School receives the official degree, we will contact the applicant to notify them that it is available.
To collect it, the person concerned must appear in person and identify themselves with their ID card, passport, foreigner identification document or driving licence.
If you are unable to collect it in person, it will only be handed over to another person if they present a power of attorney or if you have processed an authorisation for the collection of official qualifications:
If the graduate resides outside Zaragoza, they may request the Doctoral School, via the electronic registry, and attaching a copy of their identification document, the sending of their degree to the Delegation (Functional Area of High Inspection of Education) or Subdelegation of the Government in your province of residence or Embassy or Consular Office. In this case, the shipping fees must be paid as set out annually in the Decree on Public Prices published by the Government of Aragon (shipping of the certificate within Europe €30, outside Europe €50). The Doctoral School will proceed with the shipment, notifying the applicant of the exact address to which it has been sent.
Supplementary certification
Students have all the rights of a graduate from the moment they pay the issuance fees, which can be justified with the receipt downloaded once the degree application has been processed.
In some cases (for the purposes of professional registration and working abroad), an official certificate signed by the Rector may be required. This can be requested from Sección de Formación Permanente y Títulos (titulos@unizar.es) by asking for the "Certificación supletoria del Título de Doctor". This certificate will contain the essential details of the degree (details of the graduate, the degree and the national registration number of graduates, in Spanish and English). This certificate will only be processed until the degree requested is actually issued and will be sent to the email address provided by the applicant.
Duplicate
Any alteration resulting from modifications affecting the content of a degree, change of name or nationality of the holder, etc., which must be reflected in the text of the degree, will require the cancellation of the original degree and the issuance of a duplicate.
The loss, destruction or deterioration not attributable to the University of an official qualification may give rise to the issuance of a duplicate, at the request of the interested party, by submitting the application to the Doctoral School. The fee for issuing the duplicate must be paid by the interested party, in accordance with the annual Decree on Public Prices published by the Government of Aragon.
The duplicate must be requested through the registry (preferably by electronic registration), addressed to the Doctoral School. Once the request has been received by the Doctoral School, you will receive an email with the reference number and the link to pay the fee for issuing the duplicate degree certificate.
Documentation to be provided:
Duplicate due to rectification: the official degree and documentation justifying the modification.
Duplicate due to deterioration: the official qualification or part thereof when requesting the duplicate; otherwise, it will be processed as a loss.
Duplicate due to loss: publication of an announcement in the BOE is a prerequisite and essential requirement. The Doctoral School will process the insertion of the announcement, the cost of which will be borne by the interested party. If no claim has been made within 30 days of the date of publication of the announcement, the procedure for issuing the duplicate will begin. Once the duplicate has been received, the usual procedure for the delivery of degrees will be followed.
