Insurance

When the thesis is deposited in one academic year and defended once the following academic year has begun, it will not be necessary to register again, but in any case the student must have up to date school insurance (people up to 28 years of age) or accident insurance (over 28 years of age) that covers possible contingencies until the date of the defence of the doctoral thesis. A copy of the policy or receipt of the latter must be sent to tesis@unizar.es.

School insurance

All Spanish students under 28 years of age who are studying for a doctorate are included in the protective scope of school insurance, as well as students who are nationals of Member States of the European Union and the European Economic Area and, in general, all foreign students resident in Spain under the same conditions as Spanish students, provided that they are studying in Spain and up to the age of 28.

Accident insurance

Doctoral students over 28 years of age are not covered by school insurance, so they must take out accident insurance. It is the responsibility and obligation of the student to take out the insurance policy and to provide a copy of the policy or the receipt of the insurance policy at the School for Doctoral Studies, together with the rest of the registration documents. If you already have accident insurance, you must provide a copy of it when registering.

According to the instruction of the Manager of the University of Zaragoza dated 03/03/2020, all persons over 28 years of age enrolled in a doctoral programme who are also contracted within the framework of one of the university, regional or national pre-doctoral aid programmes are exempt from the obligation to take out private accident insurance.
