Mobility - Stays
Types of Doctoral Stays
To advance and/or deepen the development of the thesis, during doctoral studies it is important to carry out research stays in universities and research centers other than the University of Zaragoza, both national and international, and two types can be distinguished:
- Conventional stays. These can be both training and research placements, and can be carried out in Spanish or foreign universities or research centers.
Stays to qualify for international mention. A total of three months must be completed outside of Spain at one or more prestigious higher education institutions or research centers. In the case of multiple stays, at least one of them must have a minimum duration of one month. As a general rule, the stays cannot be carried out at institutions located in the doctoral candidate's country of origin, residence, or workplace.
Processing
Before making the stay
Application
The doctoral student must submit, with sufficient advance notice, to the administrative office of the Doctoral Programme and addressed to the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme endorsed by the supervisor and the advisor, the specific application form, as the case may be:
- Application for conventional stay
- Application for stays in thesis that opt for international mention
Resolution
Once the stay is authorized by the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme, the programme's administrative office will send the Academic Committee's resolution to the EDUZ. Likewise, any changes to the initially authorized plan must be communicated to the EDUZ.
In the case of stays by individuals applying for the international mention in their degree, the Permanent Committee of the Steering Committee must give its approval, which will be communicated to the applicant and the programme.
After completing the stay
The doctoral student must incorporate the Activity Document (DAD) into the SIGMA platform for evaluation:
Report of the stay on the work carried out following the specific report form after completing the stay. This must include a summary of all the activities carried out during the stay in relation to the work plan and activities provided for in the application, so that it is possible to evaluate the degree of compliance thereof. In the case of training stays, details of the training received and how it fits in with the research and/or doctoral training plan must be provided. Likewise, you must report any incidents and changes to the planned plan that have taken place. It should be taken into account that if they imply a reduction in the length of the stay, they may lead to the requirements being not met so that the International Mention for the title of Doctor can be requested at the time, if applicable.
Certificate from the person responsible for the stay at the host institution for both stay modalities in which the start and end dates are clearly indicated, along with the activities carried out and the name of the person responsible at the host institution, who will sign it. The document must include elements of corporate identity - letterhead, logo, seal, etc. - of said institution. This must be submitted by the doctoral student, at the time of requesting admission for processing, along with the rest of the required documentation.
