Access to doctoral studies for students with a non-accredited foreign degree issued by a country outside the European Higher Education Area.

Those who hold a degree obtained in accordance with foreign education systems outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) may access the doctorate without the need for homologation, after verifying that it accredits a level of training equivalent to that of the official Spanish Master's degree and that it entitles the holder to access doctoral studies in the country in which the degree was issued.

The application, which will bear the cost indicated in the Decree on public prices, must be submitted, within the deadlines set by the academic calendar, through the Solicit@ platform, accompanied by the following documentation:

  • Photocopy of identity card or passport.

  • Higher education degree (official Master's degree or equivalent and previous official studies) legalised according to the country of issue. Only photocopies of the legalised documents may be submitted at the time of application, and the original legalised documents must be presented at the time of enrolment.

  • Personal academic certification of these studies with the same legalisation as the degree.

  • Certificate issued by your home university stating that the qualification obtained qualifies, in the country of issue, for access to doctoral studies (it must be signed by the competent authority of the home university or, even, by the Ministry of Education). This document must also be duly legalised.

Payment of the fee is made on the same application platform, through TPV, by credit or debit card.

Model certificate of accreditation of access to doctoral studies in country of origin

Documents issued in a language other than Spanish, English or French, must be accompanied by their official translation into Spanish.

The interested party must also submit an application for admission to the doctoral programme of interest, which will be subject to the favourable decision of the Doctoral Commission on access to the doctoral programme. Once access has been granted, the interested party will be notified and will have to submit it together with the rest of the documentation required for admission.

The granting of access to doctoral studies with a foreign degree that has not been recognised in this way shall in no case imply the recognition of the foreign degree held by the interested party or its recognition for purposes other than that of access to doctoral studies.
