Thesis with protected content
Doctoral students may request a declaration of thesis with protected content addressed to the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme, provided that the conditions established in the Regulations on Doctoral Theses of the University of Zaragoza are met. In these cases, prior to any action being taken, all members of the Academic Committee who will have access to the full content of the doctoral thesis must sign the corresponding confidentiality agreement.
1.1. At the time of applying for admission to the thesis process, the doctoral student shall pre-deposit the complete version of the thesis and attach the form requesting: (i) that part of the thesis be declared confidential; (ii) that part of the defence corresponding to the indicated parts be held behind closed doors; and/or (iii) that the full text of the doctoral thesis not be published in the university repository in digital format.
1.2. In the event of a favourable decision by the programme's Academic Committee, any person who has access to the full content of the thesis must sign the corresponding confidentiality agreement.
1.3. At the time of submission, two versions of the thesis shall be delivered: i) the full text, which shall be deposited in the University of Zaragoza Archive and subject to the access and use controls established by the regulations applicable to this type of documentation, and ii) a reduced version, from which confidential content has been removed, for publication in the repository.
1.4. The defence of a thesis declared to contain protected content may be held in a restricted manner when authorised by the programme's Academic Committee. On the day of the defence, once it has been constituted, the panel will organise the restricted defence of the thesis and public access to the room, establishing the procedure for the event. Minutes of this agreement shall be drawn up and attached to the official documentation relating to the thesis defence. The agreement on the procedure to be followed, signed by the members of the panel, shall be posted on the door of the room where the defence is to take place at least half an hour before the defence.
