Call for Applications for the 2026 MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships Now Open
The European Commission announced today the official launch of the 2026 call for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships.
With a strong commitment to scientific talent, this initiative aims to foster the creative and innovative potential of postdoctoral researchers who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training and international, cross-sectoral, and interdisciplinary mobility.
Two Pathways to Global Innovation
The call is divided into two strategic categories:Excellence and rigor as standards
European Fellowships: Aimed at researchers traveling to any country in the European Union or Associated Countries for stays of 1 to 2 years.
Global Fellowships: Designed for European researchers to conduct a research phase outside Europe (1–2 years) and return with the acquired knowledge to a European institution for a mandatory period of 12 months.
To ensure maximum scientific impact, the call maintains strict eligibility requirements. Candidates must hold a PhD and have a maximum of 8 years of post-PhD research experience. Additionally, the “mobility rule” applies, which requires that the researcher has not resided in the host country for more than 12 months during the three years prior to the call’s deadline.
A key aspect of this edition is the consolidation of the resubmission restriction: proposals that do not reach the 80% threshold will not be eligible for resubmission in the next call, thereby incentivizing the submission of projects of exceptional quality from the outset.
Key dates and deadlines
The deadline for submitting applications is September 9, 2026. Results will be announced in early 2027, allowing the first projects to begin in the spring of that same year.
