1st Research Award on ‘Gender and Violence against Women’

The University of Zaragoza and the Aragonese Institute for Women of the Government of Aragon, through the Chair of Studies on Violence against Women and Gender Equality, have awarded the First Research Prize for ‘Gender and Violence against Women’, worth 3,000 euros, to Dr. Laura Gracia Sánchez, professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Teruel Campus belonging to the University of Zaragoza, for her doctoral thesis entitled: Sexism among students in the Teaching Degree: Comparison with their family contexts and the effectiveness of a programme for reducing sexist beliefs.

The thesis, supervised by Professor Dr. Alberto Nolasco Hernández (Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Teruel) and Professor Dr. Elena Escolano Pérez (Faculty of Education, Zaragoza), addresses one of the main challenges in the training of future teachers: sexist beliefs among university students preparing to become teachers.

This award, granted by the Chair of Studies on Violence against Women and Gender Equality, aims to recognise research of scientific excellence with a social impact in the university environment on the multiple forms of violence against women and gender equality.
