10th AgroBank Chair Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis

On behalf of the AgroBank Chair in “Quality and Innovation in the Agri-Food Sector”, sponsored by CaixaBank and the University of Lleida, we are pleased to announce the call for entries for the 10th AgroBank Chair Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis, aimed at PhD graduates who have obtained their degree at a Spanish university by completing a doctoral thesis on a topic related to Quality and Innovation in the agricultural or food sector. This year marks the 10th edition of the award, which has established itself as one of the most prestigious and highest-value awards in this field.

The aim of this award is to recognise research carried out in agriculture, livestock farming or food, in the broadest sense, particularly in the fields of innovation, quality or agri-food safety, by rewarding the thesis that represents a significant advance in knowledge in this field.

The award is worth 5,000 euros, with a single runner-up prize of 1,000 euros also being awarded.

All PhD graduates, of any nationality, who have defended their doctoral thesis at any Spanish university between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2025, having obtained the highest mark (summa cum laude), are eligible for the prize. Theses that have already received an award for this purpose from any other institution, public or private, at the time of submission are not eligible. This criterion excludes the Extraordinary Doctoral Award granted by the university where the thesis was defended.

The deadline for submitting applications is 1 June 2026 at 14:00.

The documentation to be submitted in the first phase of the award is very straightforward and all procedures are carried out online.
